The Standard
The HUVRA Creative Origin Classification sorts a work by who determined its creative content. There is no percentage threshold.
Three independent axes
These three concepts are handled separately and none replaces another.
Origin class
H1, H2, D1, D2, U. States who determined the creative expression.
Verification level
Declaration, Reviewed, Audited. States how closely the claim was reviewed.
Record status
Pending, in review, needs info, declared, approved, rejected, suspended, revoked, expired.
Classes eligible for a human-created certificate
With suitable evidence and review, these can receive the HUVRA Human Origin Seal.
Human Created
The creative and expressive elements of the work were produced by a person. It contains no image, audio, video, text, composition or other creative element generated by generative AI.
Examples: A hand-made illustration, a logo designed by a person, a traditional or digital painting, a photograph taken by a photographer, a 3D scene modelled by a person, a screenplay written by a person.
Human Created with Technical Assistance
The creative expression was determined and produced by a person. Software or AI assisted only with a technical task. The certificate states clearly that technical assistance was used.
Examples: Noise reduction, lens correction, automatic masking, audio clean-up, transcription, technical colour or exposure correction, and technical optimisations that do not create the composition.
H1 and H2 are not interchangeable. For H2 records, the certificate states that technical assistance was used. The line between technical assistance and generative contribution is drawn by the function and result, not by the tool's name. For example, if a system that sharpens an image invents new and meaningful visual detail, the operation is reviewed separately.
Classes recorded only as origin disclosures
D1, D2 and U are not human-created certificate classes; they are an origin declaration or a review outcome.
Generative AI Involved
At least one element generated by generative AI is included in the creative expression of the work. A transparent Production Declaration Record can be created; the work cannot receive the HUVRA Human Created Seal.
Examples: A new visual element made with Generative Fill, a background generated by AI, a video shot created from a prompt, synthetic voice or speech, a generated illustration incorporated into a human design.
AI Generated
The content that defines the expression of the work was generated by generative AI systems. Writing prompts, selecting results, ordering them or making minor edits does not by itself mean the work was produced by a person.
Examples: A main image generated from a prompt, a generated piece of music, text written by AI.
Undetermined
The information is complete, but the statements conflict with each other or with the evidence, so the source of the creative expression cannot be determined. This record is not a human-created certificate; clarification may be requested. Missing information is not "undetermined": it is shown as "Information incomplete".
Examples: The declarations contradict each other, or a recorded AI use does not match what was stated about the work.
For D1 and D2, a transparent Origin Disclosure Record can be created. It does not imply an independent review, and it is never visually confused with the Human Origin Seal. A human-made component can be reviewed separately, but its certificate cannot be extended to the whole work if the work contains generative AI. D2 records receive no mark of distinction, achievement or artistry.
Verification levels
Payment does not buy a higher level or a positive result.
Declaration
FreeThe applicant's signed statement is recorded. No independent review is carried out.
Minimum evidence: Signed declaration, tool and contribution details, at least one working file.
Reviewed
PaidAn authorised evaluator reviews the evidence provided and gives a reasoned decision. A paid review does not guarantee a favourable result.
Minimum evidence: Declaration, intermediate versions and process record.
Audited
FreeA volunteer independent auditor from outside the HUVRA team carries out a comprehensive process verification. The auditor submits a conflict-of-interest and confidentiality declaration. No fee is charged for this level and a favourable result is not guaranteed.
Minimum evidence: In addition to the Reviewed level evidence: a continuous process record, tool account verification and sampled reproduction.
Official seal rule
Standard v0.2
- HUVRA Human Origin SealUsed only for works in class H1 or H2, at the Reviewed or Audited level, with a valid Approved status.
- Unreviewed Human-Created DeclarationAn H1 or H2 record at the Declaration level does not receive the seal; it is shown with this wording instead.
- Origin Disclosure RecordA separate visual identity for D1, D2 and undetermined records. It does not borrow the trust of a human-created certificate.
- Suspended or revokedSuspended or revoked records never look like an active seal.
Details
How is the class determined?
The applicant answers plain questions: who created the creative elements, whether new content was created with generative AI, whether technical tools were used, and which method was used in each area of creative contribution. From these answers the system produces only a preliminary suggestion. If the answers are incomplete, inconsistent or unclear, U is used; a doubtful declaration is never treated as H1 or H2 automatically. Applicants cannot assign an official seal to their own work. An evaluator cannot give a more favorable class than the applicant's declaration supports, and every class change is recorded with a reason.
Why are there no percentages?
There is no universal, reliable method for measuring what share of a work was produced by AI. HUVRA does not produce numbers that give an impression of measurement. Percentages declared under Standard v0.1 are kept as historical records.
What happened to Standard v0.1 records?
Earlier records were not deleted, revoked or reclassified. On the verification page they appear marked “HUVRA Standard v0.1 — Historical Record” with their original classes; the v0.2 seal is not granted automatically. The owner can request a reassessment of the same files under the current standard. That creates a new record and a new decision.
Accepted types of evidence
Source files, sketches, intermediate versions, layered project files, working history, tool usage notes and, where they exist, generation logs. Having them does not automatically prove human creation, and lacking them does not by itself show that AI was used.
Important notices
- HUVRA is a record of creative origin. It gives no assurance of copyright, originality or ownership.
- Legal status (for example, copyright protection) varies by country and is independent of the certificate.
- The Declaration level rests on a declaration that has not been independently reviewed.
- A certificate is limited to a specific work and version. A changed work requires a new application.
- HUVRA does not guarantee in absolute terms that "no AI was used". It evaluates within the evidence provided.
- HUVRA shows the record and review of creative origin. It does not show the quality or factual accuracy of a work.
- A paid review does not guarantee a favourable result.
